Eduardo V. Bentain, 72, a resident of Naperville, IL. At peace February 25, 2010 at his home. He was born July 26, 1937 in The Philippines to Gregoria and Longina Bentain.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Virginia (nee Arriola); his cherished children, Edwin (Huong), Maria Edeli (Frank) Melanson, Edcel Bentain, Maria Eden (John) Jennings, Eduardo (Jane) Bentain, Jr., Ediver Bentain, Patricia Bentain; his wonderful grandchildren, Katrina, Joan, Joshua, Mhegan, Johnny, Abigail, Kyle, E.J., Frankie, Jack, Kate, Jeremy, Justinne, Channel, S.J., Noel, Bettina; his dear siblings, Joseph Bentain, Edith (Ceasar) Abay, Alex (Tally) Bentain, Luceth (Virginia) Bentain, Making Bentain; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edgar Bentain; his parents and his brother, Gregoria Bentain, Jr.
Eddie was a policeman for 43 years and served as Chief of Police at the Univ. of The Philippines. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing chess and cooking.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2:00 until 6:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 1, 11:00 AM at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd, Naperville. Elizabeth "Betty" Brummel, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8 at St Patrick's Residence in Naperville.
Elizabeth M (Tinnes) Brummel was the much loved daughter of the late John and Margaret (Armbrust) Tinnes, and after the death of her mother, Mary (Baier) Tinnes; the beloved wife of the late Frank J Brummel, cherished mother of Margaret (Sr Marietta IBVM), the late Joyce (Thomas) Reising, Nancy (Thomas) Doran, the late Mary Louise, Joan (Chester) Wiczek, and David; the loving grandmother of Steve (Jean) Reising, Janice (John) Petersen, Debra (Joseph) Marovich, Theresa (Fred) Shoaff, the late Julieann, Laura (Mick) Gaughan, Linda Doran, Carol (Brett) Anno, Thomas (Martha) Wiczek, Barbara Wiczek, and great-grandmother of Joyce, Michael, Amanda, Megan, Stephanie, Joseph, Melissa, Fred, Sara, Andrew, Michael, Matthew, Johnathon, Larrisa and Kyle, as well as, many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graduate of St Mary's School in West Chicago and Mount St Marys on the Fox ('36) she had been employed at the Americana Nursing home for 25 years, and was a long time
member of SS Peter and Paul, and later, St Raphael Parishes in Naperville where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, scout leader, sacristan and food pantry worker.

Angelo is survived by his loving children, Mark (Sharon) Porto, Phillip (Kelly) Porto, Judith (William) Knabe and Carolyn (Steve) Schmidt; his wonderful grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas Porto, Nicole, Michael and Brian Schmidt, Emma Knabe and Erin, Kenneth, Nycole and Monique Porto; his dear siblings, Raye Lambertz, Tony (Eileen) Porto, Anna (Chuck) Raymond, Eleanor Pecka, Joann Eggebrecht; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A devout Catholic, Angelo was a longtime parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church. He attended daily Mass when he was able to and was active in the Rosary Society.

Robert J. Schmitt (October 15, 1934 to February 27, 2010)
Robert J. Schmitt, 75, a resident of Naperville for over 40 years, died, surrounded by his family on February 27th in Chicago. He was born October 15, 1934 in Chicago, graduated from Lane Tech High School and served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. After the Navy, he was a chef at many Chicago-area restaurants, including the Ambassador East Hotel, Pheasant Ruin and Andy's Steak House.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his eight children and his wife of forty years, Patricia. Robert's life centered around his large family and spending every moment of free time coaching (for 25 years, he coached his sons' Little League teams) supporting, and watching every single baseball, basketball and softball game; cooking elaborate and delicious meals for enormous family celebrations and holidays; and encouraging and loving his children in all their educational, vocational and personal aspirations. He was above all else, a loving and dedicated father.
Robert was a man of strong faith. He was a very active member of St Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville, serving as a Eucharistic minister, religious education teacher, and chef for many religious functions.
Robert was also a man who instilled in his children many important values and lessons: the values of reading and education (all of his children graduated from college, many of them are teachers), of respect, love, and hard work, and of commitment and dedication to family and friends.
Besides his wife Patricia (nee Paara), survivors include his children, Katie of Naperville, Michael of Naperville, John (Emily) of Hoffman estates, Joe (Kyle) of Yorkville, Rob (Carrie) of Chicago, Dave (Darla) of Orlando, Sandi of Aurora, and Cindi of Gunnison, Colorado; his brother Edward of West Chicago and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily; sister, Carol and parents, Edward and Agnes Schmitt.

Eugene "Gene" Swanson (July 20, 1935 to March 1, 2010)
Eugene "Gene" Swanson, 74, a 30 year Naperville resident, died on March 1, 2010 surrounded by his family. Born in Chicago on July 30, 1935, Gene married his beloved wife Sharon in 1963. They spent 46 years together as best friends and had three children together: Scott (Ellana), Steve (Katie) and Cathy (Del). Gene greatly enjoyed spending time with each of his grandchildren: Emily, Grant, Olivia, Elsa and soon-to-arrive, Evelyn.
Following graduation from Taft High School in 1953, Gene earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Gene served in the U.S. Army and was employed for 35 years with Zenith Electronics. One of his biggest adventures was taking his family to Taiwan for three years where he was Zenith's Vice President of Finance. During this time they went on extensive travels, including a trip around the world in the summer of 1978.
Golf was a great love of his, whether playing or watching; after retiring, he "worked" at Naperbrook Golf Course as a starter and ranger until his passing.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Gene is also survived by his loving sister, Sandy (Dave) Hipp, his brother, Jimmy and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Nina.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 20, 11:00 AM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington, Naperville, with a reception to follow until 3:00 PM at the church. Mel H. Tilton, 76. At peace February 27, 2010 at Alden Estates of Naperville. He was born November 15, 1933 in Valparaiso, IN.
Mel is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jeanne; his children, John Tilton, Mindy (Michael) Gajdek and Mike (Jackie) Tilton; his step-children, Sue (Andy) Womack, Jan (Steve) Junk and Glenn (Julie) Schlichting; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Beverly (the late Cecil) Westerhouse, Betty (Robert) Playmen and David Tilton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mabel Tilton, and his sister, Carol (Mike) Swansby.
Mel graduated from Valparaiso High School, Class of 1952. He proudly served his country as an officer in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. Mel spent his entire 40 year career as an independent contractor in Mechanical Engineering Design. He was an avid sports fan, loved his Cubs, Bears and Fighting Irish, and could be found on the golf course whenever he could get away.

Josephine grew up on Chicago's North Side, was a graduate of Providence High School and DePaul University in Chicago with a Classical Languages degree. Josephine taught for over 30 years at several Catholic schools in the Western Suburbs and was a current member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn and a former member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, Oak Park, IL. Josephine was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Red Hat Society.
Family and friends will meet Saturday, March 13th for an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 480 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Veronica L. Zielbauer (nee Geisel), Age 89, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1985, formerly of Aurora, IL 1955-1985, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born April 28, 1920 in Elek, Hungary.
Beloved wife of George Zielbauer, loving mother of George M. Zielbauer of Warrenville, IL and Joseph (Diane) Zielbuaer of Warrenville, adored grandmother of Paul Zielbauer, Kristine (Dr. Charles) Kinder, Lisa and Markus Zielbauer and
Patrick (fiancée, Jenna Burkett) Zielbauer, cherished grandmother of Jacquelyn and Ella Kinder, dear godmother of Mickey Bologh.
Veronica was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Naperville and was active in the church's "Young at Heart" group. She was a former member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora and enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Visitation Tuesday, March 2, 8:30 - 10:30 A.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Family & Friends will meet Tuesday, 3:00 P.M. at the East Chapel (White Mausoleum) in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL for committal services and entombment.

Christopher Austin Zimmer (November 6, 1981 to February 27, 2010)
Christopher Austin Zimmer, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2010. He was born November 6, 1981 in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Chris is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen; his loving parents, Michael and Kathleen Zimmer; his cherished brothers, Patrick and Timothy Zimmer; as well as several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was a graduate of Benet Academy, class of 2000. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2006, and was currently an employee of Bionuclear Consultants, a radiation research group. Chris loved animals and was an active volunteer with area animal rescue and shelter organizations. He was an avid reader and writer and was also dedicated to physical fitness.
